We received this 2023 award for the painting of this substantial 2-storey home in St Kilda East, very close to Prt Melbourne. It was in very poor condition with alot of bubbling and peeling so we had to strip alot of paint and oil undercoat prior to painting. Given the age of the property and condition of the paint work we followed our lead painting processes to protect everyone. Our client was thrilled with the outcome. This 2021 Award is for the painting of this fabulous heritage 2-storey home in St. Kilda. It was a bit unusual in that the windows and doors were already painted in 2-colours in gloss enamel and our client wanted to repaint in enamel so we did that. There are over 70 windows. Ordinarily we would change over to acrylic paint.
Before commencing we organised our carpenter to repair the 2nd-storey balcony and replace rotten timber as required. We completed extensive preparation and especially with the gloss enamel surfaces to ensure they would be smooth, glossy and the paint finish durable. We stripped some fascias and window sills and oil-undercoated those and all bare timber prior to painting. Due to the age of the property we assumed there was lead paint underneath and followed our lead paint procedures when stripping paint. The photo is of an apartment building we painted in St. Kilda East. It is a large building which we used scaffolding and booms to access the high areas. Often the most complex parts of these types of projects is working with the power company to ensure we meet the regulations and everyone on-site is safe. Also communicating with residents to ensure everyone knows what is happening is important. We were presented with an Excellence in Painting Award in 2017 for this project. This photo is of a classic period style terrace in Port Melbourne. As you can see from this photo there is quite a lot of detailed painting required with the lacework and ornate render work. We have painted many houses like this and understand the preparation requirements of these older style homes.
This photo is of a modern apartment we painted in Port Melbourne. Generally these apartments are quite straightforward to paint given the walls are constructed of plasterboard which is quite easy to fill and the woodwork is plain.
These two photos are from house in Albert Park. We painted this as part of a major renovation/extension. The front part of the house was kept intact with period features and the rear of the house and the 2nd- level are very modern.
This photo is from an art-deco apartment in St. Kilda East where we painted 3 or the 4 apartments and the exterior of the building. The apartments were renovated before we painted.
