We received this 2023 award for the painting of this substantial 2-storey home in East St Kilda. It was in very poor condition with alot of bubbling and peeling so we had to strip alot of paint and oil undercoat prior to painting. Given the age of the property and condition of the paint work we followed our lead painting processes to protect everyone. Our client was thrilled with the outcome. This 2021 Award is for the painting of this fabulous heritage 2-storey home in St. Kilda. It was a bit unusual in that the windows and doors were already painted in 2-colours in gloss enamel and our client wanted to repaint in enamel so we did that. There are over 70 windows. Ordinarily we would change over to acrylic paint.
Before commencing we organised our carpenter to repair the 2nd-storey balcony and replace rotten timber as required. We completed extensive preparation and especially with the gloss enamel surfaces to ensure they would be smooth, glossy and the paint finish durable. We stripped some fascias and window sills and oil-undercoated those and all bare timber prior to painting. Due to the age of the property we assumed there was lead paint underneath and followed our lead paint procedures when stripping paint. We received a painting award for this project in 2017. The two photos above are of a complete exterior repaint of an apartment block in East St.Kilda. This was a fairly complex project due to the height, power and preparation required. We used scaffolding for one side of the building and a boom for the other 3 sides. We organised for power to be isolated when the scaffolding was erected and removed to meet the power company requirements. We worked in with residents to ensure windows were opened and balconies available for us to paint. To view more photos and information regarding this project please click here.
The photos above are of another apartment block we repainted in East St. Kilda. This is a large block where we used a combination of scaffolding and booms to paint the high areas. The photos show the length of the building so you can get a feel for how large it is.
This photo is of a beautiful period home in East St. Kilda only a few doors down from the apartment building above. We painted the exterior trim and some rooms inside. We used scaffolding to access the high areas.
These three photos are of an apartment block we painted, also in East St. Kilda. We painted the interiors of 3 apartments and the exterior of the block. We transformed this fantastic weatherboard home in Balaclava from dull to fabulous! We organised our carpenter to replace a lot of rotten timber and we also completed significant preparation including electric sanding, filling and gapping before we could even consider painting.

East St. Kilda is an inner suburb 6kms south-east from the Melbourne CBD. It has a a population of approx. 12,000 and is in the City of Port Phillip and City of Glen Eira. It is a densely populated suburb with many apartment buildings and is predominantly a residential suburb. It does not have much open public space with the exception of Alma Park. St. Kilda East was first settled in the 1850’s with small cottages being built. larger houses were built during the next 20 years and terraced housing started to be built during the 1870’s. Apartment buildings started to be built during the 1950’s and 60’s and this trend has continued over the years.
