Suburb: St Kilda East, Melbourne | Services: Exterior House Painting
This is a large 2-storey heritage timber house in East St Kilda that was in very poor condition. The paint was bubbling and peeling and much of it required stripping. Given the age of the home we had to assume lead paint was present.
We painted most of the house excluding the front fence and 2nd-storey decks and banisters & balustrades.
It was clear significant preparation would be required. We stripped paint where needed and oil undercoated all surfaces to provide a stable surface prior to painting. We referred our clients to a carpenter so rotten timber could be replaced.
We stripped timber using a combination of Peelaway/Dumond and our stripping machine into our Festool dust extractor. We followed our lead paint procedures for this. We then electric sanded all timber using our Festool sanders and dust extractors.
Scaffolding was required for the 2nd-storey which we organised and there are some photos of this below.
The preparation and painting has brought this home back to life and our clients are so happy with the result.
We were awarded Winner for Domestic Repaint over $30,000 in 2023 by Master Painters Association – see the award logo below.
