Moorabbin is a small bayside suburb located 16kms south-east of the CBD and is part of the City of Kingston. Its population is approx. 5,000.
The word “Moorabbin” is believed to have come from the Wurundjeri Aboriginal word for resting place.
Moorabbin is a mix of residential and industrial. It was formerly the main industrial area for the south-eastern suburbs and was classified as a “District Business Centre” by the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works. It is the former home of St. Kilda Football Club.
